  Brent futures rose $4, or 4%, to $103.94 a barrel at 0400 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) climbed $3.49, or 4%, to $91.62.
  
  Crude futures dropped more than 10% on Monday, after Trump ordered a five-day delay to attacks on Iran’s power plants, saying the U.S. had talks with unnamed Iranian officials that produced "major points of agreement".
  
  "By shelving the plan to strike Iranian power plants for five days, the U.S. effectively sucked much of the ’war premium’ from the oil price," said KCM Trade chief market analyst Tim Waterer.
  
  "Today’s moderate bounce is just the market finding its footing in the mud. Traders are aware that while the missiles are on hold, the Strait of Hormuz is still far from a clear waterway."
  
  The war has all but halted shipments of about one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas through the Strait of Hormuz. However, two tankers bound for India sailed through the strait on Monday.
  
  Tehran rejected the claim of contact with Washington, dismissing it as an attempt to manipulate financial markets, while Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they had attacked U.S. targets and denounced Trump’s comments as "worn-out psychological operations".
  
  "Even with a possible decrease in tensions after (Monday’s) announcement from President Trump, we expect a price floor of $85–$90 and a natural drift back to the $110 range until the Strait of Hormuz is restored," Macquarie said in a client note.
  
  If the strait remains effectively shut until the end of April, Brent could still reach $150 a barrel, Macquarie said.
  
  In the latest attacks on energy infrastructure across the region, a gas company office and a pressure-reduction station were hit in the Iranian city of Isfahan, while a projectile struck a gas pipeline feeding a power station in Khorramshahr, Iran’s Fars news agency reported.
  
  To ease supply shortage, the U.S. temporarily waived sanctions on Russian and Iranian oil already at sea. Industry sources said traders have since offered Iranian crude to Indian refiners at a premium to ICE Brent.
  
  The International Energy Agency Executive Director Fatih Birol on Monday said the agency is consulting Asian and European governments on possible further releases of strategic reserves "if necessary".
  
  Still, markets are bracing for market disruption at least until April, which continue to be a tailwind beneath Brent while maintaining momentum for inflation, said Priyanka Sachdeva, senior market analyst at brokerage Phillip Nova.

  Earlier on Monday, Trump had postponed for five days a plan to hit Iran’s energy grid. Iran later denied that it had engaged in negotiations with the United States.
  
  "The stop on attacks for five days is only on their energy sites," a U.S. official told Semafor.
  
  "It is not on the military sites and the navy, and the ballistic missiles, and the defense industrial base. The initial initiatives of (Operation) Epic Fury will continue," he told the news agency.
  
  Reuters could not immediately verify the report. The White House, the U.S. State Department and the Pentagon did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside regular hours.

  The vessel Nabiin, which was in the Persian Gulf on Sunday, has now moved to the Gulf of Oman, meaning that it has passed the Strait of Hormuz outbound to the Gulf of Oman.
  
  Yet, the Nabiin is a tanker that was sent to a scrapyard in Bangladesh five years ago, Bloomberg reports, noting that the ship that’s flashed positioning in the Strait of Hormuz is likely a so-called zombie tanker. Such tankers assume the identity of scrapped legitimate vessels.
  
  The Nabiin is not the only potentially zombie tanker that has transited the Strait of Hormuz in recent days.
  
  At the end of last week, a vessel posing as a scrapped LNG carrier exited the Strait of Hormuz, Bloomberg reported on Friday.
  
  The vessel, Jamal, was the first known example of a potential zombie ship that has taken the identity of a legitimate tanker since the war in the Middle East began.
  
  The Jamal was the name of a tanker sent in October 2025 to India scrapping.
  
  The zombie tankers show the lengths to which vessel owners are going to move through the Strait of Hormuz, where 20% of global daily oil and LNG flows passed before the war.
  
  “Iran is sustaining selective maritime movement through a permission-based model, while also using Kooh Mobarak and the Goreh-Jask pipeline as a strategic export backdoor,” maritime intelligence firm Windward said on Friday.
  
  Overall transit through the Strait of Hormuz has collapsed by 95% since February 28, but transit is now “increasingly selective and controlled, with vessels rerouting via Iranian territorial waters,” the intelligence firm said on Sunday. Source: Oilprice.com

  According to Bloomberg, markets are reassessing the Federal Reserve’s path as energy-driven inflation risks intensify. Fed funds futures now indicate a 50% probability that benchmark rates will be higher by at least 25 basis points after the September FOMC meeting, marking a decisive reversal from expectations just weeks ago that centered on multiple rate cuts.
  
  The shift is being driven almost entirely by oil. Brent crude has surged sharply since the outbreak of the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran and the disruption of flows through the Strait of Hormuz, a chokepoint that handles roughly a fifth of global oil and LNG trade. The resulting supply shock is feeding directly into inflation expectations and pushing short-term Treasury yields higher.
  
  Front-end yields have reacted fastest. The U.S. 2-year Treasury yield has climbed back above 4%, erasing months of declines and signaling that markets are beginning to price in a more hawkish Fed stance despite weakening economic signals earlier this year.
  
  Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell acknowledged last week that the Middle East conflict is already feeding into inflation expectations, noting that the surge in oil prices is a key near-term driver. Policymakers held rates steady at 3.50%-3.75%, but the market is now moving ahead of the Fed, repricing the risk that inflation could remain elevated for longer than anticipated.
  
  The speed of the shift has caught many off guard. Just a month ago, markets were pricing in a meaningful probability of rate cuts by year-end. That view has now been largely unwound as energy markets tighten and geopolitical risks escalate.

  Global LNG shipments have plunged to about 1.1 million tons over the 10-day moving average, down by 20% since the war began, a Bloomberg analysis of Kpler vessel-tracking data showed.
  
  Qatar is the primary driver of the lost LNG supply following the halt of production and exports. Supply is also lost from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), whose shipments are choked and unable to move past the Strait of Hormuz.
  
  At the end of last week, Qatar’s state firm QatarEnergy said the damage from Iranian missile strikes on the Ras Laffan LNG complex, the world’s single largest LNG-producing facility, would cost it about $20 billion per year in lost revenue and to take up to five years to repair.
  
  The Iranian missile attacks on Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC) last week dashed hopes of quick resumption of Qatari LNG flows even if the Strait of Hormuz were to open to unimpeded and safe traffic today.
  
  None of the other major LNG exporters, including the top exporter, the United States, cannot offset the lost Qatari supply, which sent European benchmark gas prices and Asia’s spot LNG prices to multi-year highs.
  
  Northeast Asian buyers enter the worst disruption in the history of energy markets with comparatively comfortable stock levels, but Europe faces its toughest restocking season yet, as its gas storage sites are about 29% full at the end of the winter—10 percentage points below last year’s levels, according to Kpler.
  
  As a result of the low storage levels and Qatar and the UAE offline for weeks and possibly months as any restart would only be gradual, “Europe’s restocking will be slower, more expensive, and more dependent on US and West African supply than at any prior point,” Kpler says.

  Europe usually ships most of its exported gasoline to the United States, West Africa, and South America. But in these unusual times of the biggest disruption in the oil market ever, more European gasoline cargoes are bound for Asia.
  
  Over the past week, at least 1.6 million barrels of gasoline, carried by three tankers, have loaded from Europe and are en route to Asia, Reuters reported on Monday, citing ship-tracking data and trade sources.
  
  The crude supply crisis in the Middle East, on which Asia relied for a large part of its imports before the war, is sending shockwaves through all Asian countries, which scramble to preserve domestic supply with bans or limits on fuel exports.
  
  Despite sky-high refining margins, Asian refiners are curtailing processing rates amid the crude supply shock. This additionally tightens the fuel markets in Asia.
  
  Sinopec, the biggest refiner in Asia by capacity, has reportedly slashed its run rates by 10%, while China has banned fuel exports.
  
  In Southeast Asia, Thailand and Vietnam have also restricted exports of fuels, while the Philippines and Pakistan have moved to a four-day work week, Pakistan’s move being implemented under a ‘war austerity plan’.
  
  With soaring margins in Asia, traders are now moving more gasoline to Asia and the wider Asia Pacific region, including U.S. cargoes to Australia. Early this month, Exxon was slated to ship its first-ever gasoline shipment from the U.S. Gulf Coast to Australia.
  
  The Asian region is now looking at India as a potential savior, hoping that India could redirect part of its fuel exports from the Middle East to Asia. But some Indian refiners have also reduced fuel export loadings, which further strains the tight fuel supply.
  
  Early this month, Indian state-run refiner Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) declared force majeure on all planned gasoline export cargoes for March and April as the Middle East war is halting crude supply out of the Gulf.
